Sounds (at least) like no iron-Fe - availability
Seedlings potted on into it
are going pale and bolting, or dying. Not sure if this is poor water
retention, or an imbalance of nutrients, or both.

Yes please, Moira. Do send your recipes again!
Here in Ireland we are overwhelmed with peat-based compost - to the
detriment of our disappearing bogs. There are a few organic, non-peat
composts that we can buy, but I have yet to find a satisfactory one.
I am experimenting with a new one, based on wood waste that comes in
from England, but am not happy with it. Seedlings potted on into it
are going pale and bolting, or dying. Not sure if this is poor water
retention, or an imbalance of nutrients, or both. 2 larger terracotta
pots (about 10 litres) that I have planted up with annuals
(Amaranthus hypochondriacus and Oryza sativa 'Red Dragon') are doing
better, although the rice (Oryza) had a struggle to recover after
transplanting - but I've not grown this before and don't know its
behaviour.
Looking forward to your recipes!

Hi Jane
Have once more run out of time tonight, but will try again in a couple
of days.
