That is exactly it Don, your garter snakes hibernate as do a lot of your
mamals. In Ireland temperatues are too high for that which means that you
will see bats flying in January and February when they can hardly expect to
catch any insects. That is much harder than sleeping through the cold.

And summers are not warm enough to really put on the fat.

You know more about it than we do, John. All this time I thought you, up on your cold hill, had a lower temperature than the rest of Ireland.

I hope to get to Ireland this summer and see you guys!
