Is that like what Ikea has in their catalogue? They used to have a table
like that. I copied it for one of my apartments. Great idea.
I had wide (8") ledges put in when we had the rotten windows replaced last
year. Best thing I did. Also creates a great place for the furbies to
snooze. Not so great when they use it as a runway but , well, who would have
thought of that? ha! Unruly buggers, those two, at times.
The windows I need for the orchids, are south and west, hot windows
elsewhere but I think should work here. They are still the old ones so I
need to filter the light and stop drafts. Also they have skinny narrow
ledges. I have designed sills to clamp or screw to the below of the existing
and that should make for about an 8" ledge. Hard on drapes but eventually
they will be replaced.
I have to get the workshop finished as I am suppose to be offering pysanky
sessions soon, and floorcloth painting introductions. I have been getting so
little actually done and the other day Steve really growled at me. He
decided I should go get my blood levels checked now and stop putting it off
and so I did, and although I look pretty decent colourwise.
I am dropping quite fast now. Another transfusion, this week or early next
should get me going again, if it takes like the last one. God, I hope it
does. Some don't. I am more than a little scared of them now I am pushing
the envelope, but it would be nice to be able to read an email in one try.
And to work on a quilt in the evenings. So much started and nothing finished
and that really isn't like me. Slow but sure is the way it usually is.
Gorgeous fall day here, bit blowsy but not bad and our colour is beginning
to change. Cape Breton and Prince Edward Island as well as NFLD & L are
getting hammered. Ivan isn't in existence anymore but is still spiteful.
Hurricane force winds in the highlands and in the strait. Lots of power
outages and some flooding in a number of places. I see the power trucks are
sitting outside my neighbour's house so he must be headed up there to help
restore things.
Some lovely red in the swamps maples now, and the bracken started going
golden over the weekend. The wild fall asters are out and Steve bought me a
lovely pot of the small bloomers (asters) that are a deep browny burgundy
with a tiny wash of golden along the petal edges. A gorgeous big potfull
too. For my steps, to make it welcoming. you know I could throttle him
sometimes then he does something like that. I am so glad he is in my life.
That should last me until just before freeze up and then I will bury it, pot
and all, and hope it comes back in the spring.

Not sure Mary, but I think they made it. Don't have their catalogue. Could
check on the net tho. Yes, those animals love wide ledges. My sis and a
BIL has some wide ledges underneath their windows and the dogs just love
sitting there watching goings on outdoors. What a mess their claws make of
the sill tho. My BIL put ceramic tile on his. Great idea.
Sorry to hear you're feeling so low Marg and hope that transfusion works for
you tho I know you're concerned about the number you've had to have.
Wild asters blooming here too on my neighbours side but creeping up my bank.
Have tried to do some weeding on their side (as they can no longer do it
themselves) but can't keep up with my own garden, let alone do theirs.
Neighbour across the street has some type of Maple, half of which has
already turned orange, and is already starting to drop its leaves. Must be
a different kind as the others around have just the odd orange/red leaf on
them.
Know what you mean about hubbies. But, then am sure were not always the
easiest to live with either :-).
