I guess the subject line kind of makes it real clear
what I am going to ask ay??
Anyway I have a glaze with 2% cobalt and I want to
spray it out side with the pieces setting on the grass
so I don't have to either - one wash the tarp to use
it, or two deal with news paper flying in to wet
glaze.. So, will it kill my grass?? Maim it ?? or do
nothing??

Shouldn't hurt the grass unless it will be a heavy spray. Don't use the grass in compost later
though.

Thankee' George... I guess I asked because well thats
what you do .. I think if I had no answer I would have
done it anyway and then would have seen my self.. But
now of course I am wondering why not in the compost??

Ohhhhhh..... I see... :) I have to admit I havn't
gotten to the point this morning where my brain is
fully on and I surely have not had enough coffee... I
wasn't thinking about compost goes to food garden ...
I mentally didn't get past the compost ... I was
thinking wild things like the colbalt inhibiting the
bacteria growth in the compost or something like that
... I didn't get out of the bin.. :)

Cobalt is a heavy metal with a long half life. A small bit can poison you. No point in adding it to
your food chain if you can avoid it. Miz Anne used to do pottery and would lay out a piece of
cardboard when she sprayed or otherwise put on heavy metal glazes and then trashed the cardboard.
Might be a solution depending upon the effect you're trying to get.

That's okay, I've been up since 0430 and had my mandatory 5 cups of coffee so I am awake.
Coincidentially I have been doing Material Safety Data Sheet and Hazard Communication training since
0530 so all the data was up front in the old memory bank.
A little research will show that a great many paints and glazes used by artists are definitely
hazardous to your health. Used to be a great website for artists by artists that had all the
details. Alas, the university supporting it withdrew the financial support during a minor recession
and it is no more.
