toad houses

I use a medium-sized clay flower pot, overturned, at the edge of one veg
bed. I place a stone under one edge of the pot so the toad can creep in. I
place the saucer right at this "door," fill it with stones, and keep it
filled with water. I also created a little "patio" of stones to even out
the levels between the edge of the garden bed and the walkway. Toads come
and go. There are lots of crickets in our straw-mulched beds and the toads
seem to like them.
