Here at Southwark/Queen Village Community Garden, we've been using mushroom
compost for 19 years. (We didn't get any our first year here.)
It works really well. The supplier recommends digging it into the existing
soil, but I usually just put it on top of my existing beds...maybe 3-4"
worth.
Because it may not have been aged down in mushroom country, we try to get
ours delivered in the late fall. That way the rains, snows, etc can leach
the salts out of it before planting season. Some people put it on their
gardens as soon as it comes while others wait til spring.
