I'd say load up the yard with the allium varieties and invite the deer.

Then, in fall, apply for a deer hunting permit and have some pre-seasoned
venison for a meal or three.

Do deer eat this native - I need to plant masses of bulbs somewhere -
thinking of using Alliums but have a feeling that the deer may eat the
flowers even tho they're onions.

Any thoughts on this?

They've never bothered mine.

Uhhhh, are you saying that the deer LOVE Alliums??

And who knows, these folks may own a shotgun - I wouldn't know. But they
live in a "development" that was old farm land and woods.

The thing is, the different Alliums bloom over a long period, plus there are
so many terrific colors and varieties -- I was hoping to "embellish" this
planting with something other than coneflowers, lamb's ears, thread-leaf
coreopsis, caryopteris and buddleia. (plus Cleome and Marigolds)

I know there are no FOOLPROOF deerproof plants (save for Busus and Pieris)
but I only need about 6 different perens for a 34'x4' bed.

What would YOU do?

Neither, but the subject line is Camassia so I thought that's what you were
asking about.

Deer never ate my Camassia, either. They prefer tulips and lilies.
Never touched the flowers. I've never had deer eat Allium, either.
Wish they did as I have reams of the wild onion/garlic menace I'd be
happy if they ate - never touch it. They also never eat any member of
the Narcissus family - all are poisonous. Never went for my Muscari
or any of the minor bulbs including Galanthus. For summer flowering
- tho' may not be hardy for you - they also have never touched my
surprise lilies AKA Lycoris squamigera and naked ladies. These may
sulk for a season after planting - they don't like to be moved.
