Hurray, the sun was shining for about 15 minutes. They predicted
scattered showers, but maybe they'll miss us. I can see the water on the
leaves drying up, although the ground is still very squishy.
Have you ever noticed how the carpenter ants come out after a lot of
rain? I killed 9 in the dining room this morning. DH already sprayed
the attic because I had seen some crawling around on the outside of the
house three weeks ago, but they didn't seem to be going in anywhere.

porch. Just outside of it was a lovely (I love trees) old huge tree, I
forget what kind. Every single time just before a rain, the entire back
porch would be totally inundated with flying ants. It was extremely
gruesome. I'd use a small vacuum to vacuum them up, insecticide in the
walls, everything. I saw a flying ant in my kitchen the other day. Even
10+ years later, it invoked fear.
