wheatgrass, grasses for cats to munch

I have had friends who buy their cats wheatgrass at the juice/smoothie
places. Not sure how expensive, but I doubt it's a $1 for a one year's
supply. Have not had time to follow this thread, so sorry if someone's
brought this up.

Does anyone know about growing one's own "wheatgrass" ?? It apparently
has benefits for human consumption, too...

Growing cat grass is easy easy easy. Just use an unbreakable pot, doh, I
learned that the hard way. I have used two different types sold as cat
grass, probably wheat and oat..... normal grasss seed would grow the same as
these.

Use sterile potting mix, predampen it so it is slightly damp like a wrung
out sponge. Sprinkle seeds on the soil surface, maybe a Tablespoon per four
inch pot. Sprinkle enough soil mix over top to just cover the seeds
completely. Firm soil lightly for good contact, then water just a little to
settle the soil. Now cover the pot with plastic wrap or enclose it in a
plastic bag. Set the pot in a bright location but out of direct sun, meaning
NOT on the window sill. In several days the grass will sprout. Remove the
covering, water it, set it on the window sill. That's all there is to it. I
start two at a time so cat can destroy them on alternate days. :)
