Thank you for your kind words and encouragement towards my garden. It
is a very small yard and as you can see we try to make the most possible
out of it. We were the first house built in a new development three yrs
ago so as they we digging for new foundations they would bring up many
many boulders. They had huge piles of them all around so when it came
time to grade our yard, that was going to be a very steep hill to mow,
I convinced my husband that what we needed was a rock garden instead.
The builder, at the time, didn't realize what a gold mine he was digging
up and told us that we could have the rocks to push back our hill and
when they had time to get to it they would move them for us. Well they
were taking soooo long that we decided to hire a company to come in and
do it... The rocks were free, the labour costs us $300. Not Bad!! They
even let me order them around and tell them exactly where I wanted them,
including the stairs. (that was fun!) Then to build the rock path, we
found a quarry 1/2 hr from our home that would let you fill your car for
$15.. We went there quite a few times, needless to say.
Now that all the houses are finished being built, there are no rocks to
be had and all the people who want them are paying to have them. Our
very next door neighbour just had 3 small boulders put into their front
garden at the large sum of $1000. Ouch!!! Now I know for sure we were
blessed with our rocks....LOL
Cindy who is actually on her way to the rock quarry right now and
husband is yelling....."LETS GO!!!!!" (hee hee)
