Actually, I have done it several times, after having a run in with the
PIVY. I haven't ever done it with open sores, but it really seems to work
if you come inside and feel the itch coming on. Someone on another list
suggested a cup of bleach in the bathwater.
I thought they were nuts, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
It worked! : ) I am very suseptible to PI outbreaks.

oh - whoops I am reading these posts a day late (as usual) and just posted
about the bleach and water treatment myself, but I would like to ask -
Julie - how often did you bathe in that solution - or did you do it just the
once??

I was putting the solution on my arm maybe twice a day for 4-5 days when it
became cellulitic (not sure really what this is - did not question dr. just
took perscription and ran to fill it, was the worst case of PI I ever had) -
the Doc was unsure if the bleach had contributed to my condition or not...

How much bleach did you use? (just in case!)

Miz Anne used to put a half cup in a bath tub of water and then soak in it to kill the chiggers. It
was a whole lot better than the time she took sulfur tablets and sweated hydrogen sulfide. We used
to live in an area of Texas that had trillions of chiggers to the square inch. I've never had one
bite me, that's a statement I want no remarks on B-), so don't know how much they itch.
