Bob,
What if you're out in the bush and can't easily get to a hospital or
doctor? What's the best thing to do then?

The advice is still to stop and splint.
keep limb elevated and as little as possible movement.
As most anti vanenes(?) require refrigeration, it is not practical to
carry any.
If it is impossible to get the patient out, i.e. a lone traveler, no
transport, insufficient members in party to carry the patient etc.
The advise is that if the patient is treated as above then after 3 - 4
days they can begin to move slowly to help.
The best snake repellent is to dress appropriately, long trousers, good
foot wear etc.,
make noise as you move around and use your eyes.
I have lived and worked ion some of the nations most remote places with
no problems. I got bitten at home while cutting back a box thorn hedge.
Mum snake objected as she had a spot where the little ones could sun
themselves and I was cutting it down
