A number of months ago, we discussed burned on pots and Margaret, rightfully so, said once a stainless steel pot gets burned on, it seems to have a memory and does so from then on.
Was watching one of those house cleanit shows (with the two British ladies as cleaners) and they had a seemingly marvelous solution to cleaning burned on pots....coke (as in cola). They just poured enough in the pot to cover the burned on gunk and then put it on the stove to boil and in less than a minute were able to remove most of the gunk with a light scrub with a plastic scrubber (brush type). If there's still burned on gunk, you repeat. When she repeated the second time, she didn't even have to scrub, it just dissolved in the coke, and she poured it out. Pot was shiny.
Which, knowing that it also removes rust, makes me wonder once again what it does to your stomach!
That show grosses me out - don't know how people can let their houses get to that state, but there are some pretty good tips for cleaning on there.

Put a piece of raw beef in a bowl and cover it with classic coke. If you
get bugs all over your windshield, pour coke on them and let it sit
awhile, then wash off. Makes a good all around solvent for that sort of
thing. Been that way for more than 50 years that I'm aware of. I buy a
three liter jug of coke every love bug season.

That would be a handy book to have. Some of the ways they have of cleaning things certainly seems to make things easier.
Like you, I think the stuff is revolting, but if they can clean some of that stuff, my house has to be a piece of cake!

I agree that the muck they have to deal with is revolting BUT I find the
programme invaluable. I end up with scraps of paper all over the place after
watching it as I write notes re cleaning loos etc.. I think they have published
a book so you have reminded me to go and search for it.

I have seen it once I think, and I was too grossed out. I don't clean that
well, myself, but I don't get that extreme. At least I don't think
so......good to see you posting Mary, I thought maybe you had blown away.
You have been hit with unusually pretty bad weather up your way, haven't
you?
