I was out back one warm rainy last summer spraying a new hatch =
of mosquito's with a bottle of green thumb house and garden bug spray , =
when I was coming back in the house I looked down in the hole between =
the deck and the house , where I have trinity planted -- there were =
eleven slugs on them -- I sprayed them and they could not get off fast =
enough and did'nt see them anymore //
I also put all my coffee grounds , crushed egg shell's ,
and some times coarse sand around in the beds ///
The slugs wont go over anything scratchy //
I have tried the beer years ago , it did drown them , but was a =
losing battle //
Try the bug spray , it sure did away with mine /////
mrmac
The beer will also attract hordes of slugs that may have otherwise
stayed over in the nieghbors yards heh heh.

Coffee grounds really worked to deter your slugs?
I tried coffee grounds once to deter flea beetles and that seemed to
work. Unfortunately, those coffee grounds attracted hordes of slugs and
I didn't need those any more than I wanted flea beetles...so I went back
to putting coffee grounds under shrubs that prefer acidic soil.

But the eggshells (which mrmac used along with the coffee grounds) must have
done some good -- smashed up pieces of sea shells also work well.. I can't
find a toad anywhere on my property -- how do I get them here? Must I
"import" one and give him a home?
