I learned all about poison oak while visiting the Native American
reservation in CA where I have a research project I'm working on...leaves
are VERY similar to PI, but stems look like smooth grey twigs rather than
the green or hairy brown (depending on age) vines of PI.
How awful about your dog! Mine was attacked by two small dogs tonight who
ran out of their yard when their owner was going through her
gate....fortunately she (my Cairn terrier) had only her dignity injured.
Hope your guy is going to be fine eventually.
Debbie

In reference to Poison Ivy:
I think I remember the vine is in LA in which case that would be Poison Oak.
Never having seen it I'm not sure how it differs for identification.
Did I make sense? Running on only 2 hours of sleep - my big dog Squff was
bitten by a rattlesnake last night and in agony. Vet bill $285 for
emergency. Both his hind legs collapse so there he is in the middle of the
bathroom floor. Sydney so glad you are all posting to entertain me and keep
me company. Thanks
