oil prices <was pesticides

John, if it wasn't cutting into my food budget for my husband to drive to
work I'd be quite cheerful about the cost of oil. I wonder, though, if I'm
being overly optimistic that the hike in oil will encourage support of local
farmers and a stronger sense of community and family. Will the prices
discourage urban sprawl? Perhaps Americans will simply work longer hours to
pay for food shipped from South America and commuting from homes on land
that should be used to grow food here in the states.

I noticed another large farm bulldozed while I was driving into town to
run errands. My errand days are better planned now but they are also longer
as I try to avoid driving to town (19 to 36 miles away depending on which
town I choose). I need to get that freezer question resolved so I can get
back to being well stocked.
