Gosh, how awful... hope your dog recovers quickly!

karen in NJ, who, discovering a little Brown snake the other day in the
back, shrieked and jumped several feet - then ran inside to ID it (it was
only 8" long, but so terrified that it was flicking it's little black forked
tongue at me over and over) and found that it eats nasty critters like
slugs, etc. So I moved it to a safer place where I hope it will live in
peace.

Good for you! Overcoming your fear for the good of your garden and =
nature. I have to do that when around bees (except honey bees) and =
wasps. I was stung so many times when I was little, I'm leery of them. =
But live and let live.
