crocus

Last fall I planted nearly 300 bulbs. (Gee, didn't look like *that many* when
I was ordering them!)

My first flowers have started to bloom, I have little yellow crocuses just
beginning to open in my front and back lawns. How lovely they are and so
delicate at this early stage. It is so nice to actually begin to see the
fruits of all that labor.

This is so true Elizabeth. So often we never discover things for not looking. We don't realize a flower has scent because we don't take the time to smell it. And freshly mown grass smells ever so much better when rolling in it! :)

This quote was too long to use at the bottom of every post, but I wanted to
share it anyway:

"This winter I have added a new scent to my repertoire. I blush to admit my
ignorance: for the first time, I have discovered how deliciously many
crocuses smell. I am well aware of why I have taken so long to discover
this elementary fact. I have always planted my crocuses outdoors and I have
never tried crawling through them." By Robin Lane Fox, Variations on a
Garden, 1974.

A few years ago I discovered this for myself after reading somewhere that
some crocuses have scent. I've stuck my nose in a few this year, and they
smell faintly of honey to me.

No, no. You pick someone that has a cat that they leave out all day. That yard will be pristine, because the cat goes in YOUR yard! :)
