My strawberry pot sits at a corner of my front landing. I have always
put wax begonias in it and they have looked lovely. I wrap the roots in
moistened peat moss before planting them and it seems to help keep them
moist.

What are wax begonias?

Maybe wax begonias are a midwest plant and very common in all places that
sell bedding plants. They are an annual begonia with waxy leaves and either
red, white or pink flowers. They are used here as bedding plants and I use
them as plants in my strawberry pot as they are carefree and spread just
enough to make a lovely container.

Okay, I know now what wax begonias are. Very common and widely used here in
our area during the summer. Love them - especially the bronze leafed ones

There goes my wish list ...... again!!! Does this gardening obsession ever
end? Do we ever grow out of it? My husband would like a lot of yes'es to
this these questions, I want no's. He's convinced that the number of hours
I put into my flower gardening this past summer is what has caused the
back/hip/leg problems I'm having at the present. I hate to admit it, but
he's probably right - at least partially! But give it up???? NEVER!

You can pot up almost anything you want...depending on whether you want a
shade or sun site for the plants.
Sweet allysum, licorice plant (Helichrysum petiolare), scaevola, varigated
Vinca major, swan river daisies (Brachycome), for sunny starters. Or, you
might think about using some groundcovers that spread well...like lamium.
For something different in shade, you might also want to bring out some
indoor plants...like wandering jew (Tradescantia) pothos, philodendron,
spider plants, tender ivies, swedish ivy...anything that seems to grow
relatively quickly indoors would probably do well in a shady spot. I've set
out african violets before in a shady spot...in the ground...and they seemed
to enjoy the experience. Swedish ivy (Plectranthus)romps outdoors.

Try some glucosamine. It's a daily supplement - repairs cartilage and
promotes healthy joint function. It may help. :)
Hi Linda,
Fortunately, good gardening obsessions never end, IMHO. Sometimes they get
scaled back a little due to health. But I'm a firm believer in gardening
keeping us active and healthier than we would otherwise be.

Now this is a subject I know all about!

You want to plant more in a container than you would in a bed. Try to do
varying heights of plants with at least one that will cascade over the
edge of the pot. If you have to stake try using branches from trees, for
something like sweet peas you get a very different look.
You can also use just about anything as a container, this summer I had
impatiens in one of my old Nikes.
You HAVE to water much more than with a bed. I am definitely going to
add something to help retain water this year to all my pots.

kmart has those huge muck buckets on sale for 3.99-trying to buy a planter
that size would cost at least 30 bucks elsewhere!!!

Thank you - he bought a bottle of it for me several weeks ago. Also my
daughter bought Ginger and Arnica!!! However, medical attention has become
necessary. Had an MRI already - have a bulge between 4th & 5th lumbar and a
narrowing of bone through which a nerve passes (????) so will have an EMG
Thursday and they'll go from there. NOT FUN!

The dosage on my bottle is 1 tablet 3X / day.
