A while ago someone told me that you can tell if you have
blackberries or raspberries by the hole in the middle. One of those
fruits has a hollow center. However, now I can't remember which has
the hollow. Does anyone know?

Raspberries have a hole, in which one can sometimes find raspberry bugs.
soak them before eating.

Blackberries are "solid".

Raspberries aren't really hollow in the center, but when you
pull a ripe raspberry the core stays attached and appears
hollow. Jaime
