<< I have several nice plantings of Asclepias tuberosa >>

Bob,

Did you start your Asclepias tuberosa from seed? And if you did, I'm
hoping you can answer a question for me.

I have a dozen 45-50 day seedlings. They all started out healthy and
fast growers. All are bushing out to some extent, some more than others.
The problem is that about 1/3 of these seedlings seemed to go dormant
when they reached 1-2". The others are 5-6". I placed them all outside to
harden about 2 weeks ago and of the 4 dormant, 2 are showing some
*small* growth. I'm wondering if I should give up on these slackers or
treat like the others and see what happens. Not hurting for space, so
that's not a problem.

Don't mean to be presumptuous by asking; I am not a grower, just a
home gardener experimenting. I have not seen anyone else that admitted
to being an experienced Asclepias grower, so have nowhere else to turn.

Thank you for any help that you can offer! BTW, the seeds came from
pods off of a plant my mother has had for at least 10 years. They don't
self seed; normal?

<<(free to hit the garden centers this weekend)>> Hey, me too! Time to
plant veggies and annuals (containers and window boxes) here in my
neck of the woods. We have a lot of catching up to do with you warm
zoners!
