Well, I don't think it sounds terrible, but we're that same way. Each of
us may buy the other gifts just 'cause, but we found that having to buy at
our anniversary (12/27) or even at birthdays resulted in buying things we
didn't need. So we frequently save the "gifts" for bigger things that we
both want and therefore buy together (this year it was a house!).

Most people think it's strange, I admit, but I guess we just get tired of
the consumption thing sometimes!

weekend; welcome respite after the high 90s earlier this week!

We are exactly the same way now. At first we had great fun exchanging gifts
that were made of whatever material was the official anniversary designation -
paper, wood, etc. But even then, we were more likely to buy something in wood
that the house needed than something small for each other. And with an old
house like ours, it always needed SOMETHING.

Hey, our anniversary is 12/26, coming up on the fortieth this December. We do
much the same thing with presents. Scenario: George, "What do you want for Xmas
baby?" Miz Anne, "Oh, any old thing will do." George, "No, really, what would
you like to have?" Miz Anne, "Now that you have asked - names some art supplies
or something similar." She asks me and I tell her I need new drawers, tee
shirts, or suspenders and that's what I get. I like it like that.

Hi Kari - Congrats on the new house - now that's definitely a bigger gift.

Penny - who takes days to buy a gift
