Subject : Staghorn Fern

Pot size: 3" Square
Misted daily in Kitchen on counter.
Problem: I'm having a hard time bonding with it. First I had sm.
leaves yellow and fall off. Ok, I think I watered it to often.
Next the leaves wilt or bend so I watered it. Perks up and a good
green leaf that was bent perks up and falls off. Will this Root?
The cap of the plant extends over the pot about 1/4".
Is it root bound?
I want to leave in a pot since I don't want to mount it on a
piece of wood. Plastic or clay is best ?
Potting soil type: Peat, Sphagnum, or reg. potting soil?
